So, what exactly is a backlink? It is a link that points from one site to another called an inbound link.

There are two types of backlinks 

  • Dofollow and
  • Nofollow links

A do-follow link generally passes the authority from the source site to the other destination site. So, it helps the destination site rank higher in search engine results. 

This is referred to as “link juice.” 

Acquiring do-follow backlinks can increase the domain authority of your website, which in turn, helps improve its keyword ranking. 

On the other hand, no-follow links do not pass authority onto the website linking to them.

Did you know that search engines like Google really like it when other websites link to yours? 

They see it as a sign that your content is reliable and trustworthy. 

So, the more sites that link to your website, the more likely it is that search engines will think your webpage is worth showing up on their search results page.

However, it is important to not build links like a bullet train but rather in a natural way and maintain the do-follow / no-follow ratio. 

From my point of view, a ratio of 60/40 for do-follow and no-follow links is ideal.
